Job Description
Under the direction of the Vice President for Facilities, Development and Management, the Executive Director of Facilities Services provides leadership, supervision, and compliance with best practices in the following trades: facilities maintenance, grounds, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanics and minor capital construction projects.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to)
- Direct and manage staff and trades to ensure they complete assigned projects, work orders on schedule and within budget
- Monitor and maintain data analytics within work order management system to measure performance and benchmarks
- Monitor and maintain property/space management system to ensure proper preventive maintenance, routine maintenance and legacy servicing
- Provide direction and administration of personnel issues, payroll issues, and performance management issues
- Involvement and oversight of minor capital construction projects, vendors and renovations
- Manage facilities issues for schools, students, faculty, staff, and housing staff, including estimates, oversight and planning
- Work in concert with the Campus Safety and VP to decide and implement the appropriate course of action for emergencies; such as: fires, rainstorms, dorms, etc.
- Direct staffing for campus events, student projects and outside rental
- Contributor on the Academic Space, Security, Safety and Disaster Planning Committees
- Collaborate with the California State Summer School for the Arts’ (“CSSSA”) executive staff and faculty
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree or five (5) years of relevant experience
EXPERIENCE
- Five (5) years facilities management experience
- Five (5) years supervisory experience
- Project management
- Knowledge of multiple facilities trades
- Budget administration
- Compliance with Federal and State regulations
- Experience in a higher education setting a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS (include but are not limited to)
- Office environment with exposure to toner, white out, cleaning fluids, office equipment noise, talking, air conditioning and heating
- Prolonged periods of sitting and standing
- Frequent walking
- Utilization of fork lift and/or golf cart
- Reach at, above or below shoulder level to reach equipment, files, or materials
- Manipulation of computer keyboard and/or ten-key
- Utilization of computer monitor, telephone, copier machine and other office equipment
- Pushing/pulling open and closed doors, cabinets and drawers
- Kneeling, stooping and/or crouching to reach files or materials or conduct inspections
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, gasoline fumes, fire retardant materials, natural gas, asbestos
- Exposure to general construction noise
- Exposure to potentially dangerous situations during a disaster or safety issue

$102,710 - $116,126 a year
