Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Executive (CNE), the Executive Director of Nursing Outcomes & Strategic Initiatives provides executive leadership for the development, implementation, integration, and evaluation of nursing strategic initiatives that advance clinical excellence, nursing quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, operational performance, and professional nursing practice across University Health.
This position serves as the executive leader responsible for nursing-sensitive outcomes, Magnet® readiness, nursing quality programs, strategic planning, nursing regulatory compliance, professional governance, nursing analytics, evidence-based practice, clinical innovation, nursing accreditation activities, and organizational performance improvement initiatives. Collaborates extensively with executive leadership, physician leadership, operational leaders, quality, information technology, finance, research, and academic partners to achieve organizational priorities while supporting nursing excellence and exceptional patient outcomes.
Provides executive oversight for assigned departments and strategic programs while ensuring alignment with University Health's mission, vision, nursing strategic plan, and organizational goals. Supervises assigned leaders and staff and has operational accountability for assigned functional areas.
Master's degree in Nursing is required. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), PhD in Nursing, or other healthcare-related doctoral degree is preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible nursing leadership experience in a complex acute care health system, including at least five (5) years in senior nursing leadership.
Demonstrated experience leading nursing quality, patient safety, strategic planning, regulatory readiness, organizational performance improvement, nursing professional practice, accreditation activities, and large-scale system initiatives is required.
Experience in an academic medical center, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-recognized organization, or integrated healthcare delivery system is preferred.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
Certification in Nursing Administration (NEA-BC, NE-BC), Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC), Informatics (RN-BC), or another nationally recognized nursing leadership specialty certification is preferred.
