Your Team
The Executive Director, Internal Audit leads the Internal Audit function at Colonial First State (CFS), providing independent, risk-based assurance to Boards and Audit & Risk Committees on governance, risk management, and internal controls. This role guides the Internal Audit strategy, supports compliance with regulatory obligations, and acts as a trusted partner to senior leadership, strengthening a culture of integrity and shared accountability. The Executive Director has full access to information, people, and processes in line with the CFS Internal Audit Charter.

This role reports functionally to the Board Audit & Risk Committees; administratively to Group Executive (Finance & Fund Services). The role leads a team of in-house internal Auditors and co-source service provider resources.

Your Responsibilities

Shape and deliver the Internal Audit strategy aligned to CFS’s risk appetite, and transformation agenda, maintaining independence and meeting regulatory and professional standards.

Guide and refresh the risk-based Audit Plan, securing Board and Committee alignment and ensuring coverage of emerging risks.

Partner across governance to work with Boards, ELT, regulators, External Audit, and Line 1 Risk and Line 2 Risk, coordinating assurance, reducing duplication, and strengthening the control environment.

Lead the function, overseeing team leadership (including co-sourced partners), managing budget and resource planning, and ensuring timely closure and validation of findings.

Elevate risk intelligence, monitoring regulatory change and embedding clear, practical insights into decision-making and major programs.

Foster an inclusive, supportive team culture, coaching diverse talent, encouraging collaboration, and driving continuous improvement through modern methodologies and tools.

Your Capability and Experience

Demonstrated experience leading audit functions in financial services with responsibility for Board-level reporting and strategic planning.

Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, IIA standards, and regulatory requirements, ensuring independence and fairness.

Skilled in managing complex audits and working closely with external auditors and risk teams to create cohesive assurance coverage.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage senior executives, Boards, and regulators effectively.

Ability to foster high-performing teams, support collaboration, and use technology and AI to enhance processes and outcomes.
