What You'll Be Doing

As the Executive Director, Head of APAC Global Banks Coverage, you will lead CIBC's banking relationships across the Asia-Pacific region, serving as the senior coverage executive responsible for developing and executing the strategy for global and regional financial institution clients. Based in Hong Kong, you will be accountable for driving revenue growth, strengthening strategic partnerships, and expanding CIBC's presence with banks, broker-dealers, digital banks, central banks, and other financial institutions throughout APAC.

As a senior member of the Global Transaction Banking leadership team, you will work closely with product specialists, Capital Markets partners, risk management, compliance, and executive leadership to deliver a coordinated client strategy across payments, deposits, trade finance, cash management, foreign exchange, debt capital markets, and alternative financing solutions.

You will represent CIBC at the highest levels of client organizations, industry associations, and market forums while leading a high-performing team focused on deepening client relationships and delivering sustainable growth.

Relationship Leadership

  • Serve as the senior executive sponsor for strategic APAC global bank relationships.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-suite executives and senior decision-makers at leading financial institutions.

  • Lead client engagement efforts and ensure coordinated coverage across CIBC's global platform.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive account plans focused on revenue growth, wallet share expansion, and long-term relationship development.

Business Development and Revenue Generation

  • Drive growth across transaction banking, payments, deposits, correspondent banking, trade finance, liquidity management, foreign exchange, and capital markets products.

  • Identify and originate new business opportunities with regional and global banking clients.

  • Lead complex sales opportunities involving multiple product groups and geographies.

  • Deliver regional revenue, deposit, and profitability objectives while enhancing client satisfaction and retention.

Strategic Market Leadership

  • Develop and execute APAC market strategies that align with CIBC's global Financial Institutions strategy.

  • Monitor market, competitive, regulatory, and geopolitical developments impacting banking clients.

  • Identify emerging opportunities in key APAC markets and develop strategies to capitalize on them.

  • Provide thought leadership and strategic insights to internal partners and senior management.

Global Collaboration

  • Partner closely with coverage teams across the Americas and EMEA to ensure consistent global client coverage.

  • Work collaboratively with product specialists across:

    • Correspondent Banking

    • Payments

    • Trade Finance

    • Foreign Exchange

    • Debt Capital Markets

    • Alternate Solutions Group (ASG)

    • Corporate Banking

    • Global Markets

  • Facilitate executive-level client engagement across CIBC's global franchise.

Risk and Governance

  • Ensure all business activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and CIBC policies.

  • Maintain strong oversight of AML, sanctions, KYC, reputational, operational, and credit risks.

  • Participate in governance committees and approval processes related to client onboarding, product approvals, and risk management.

  • Foster a strong risk culture that supports prudent business growth.

Leadership and Talent Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing APAC Global Banks Coverage team.

  • Coach and mentor Directors, Associates, and Analysts.

  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and excellence.

  • Support succession planning and talent development initiatives across the region.

Industry Representation

  • Represent CIBC at key industry events, conferences, and banking forums including Sibos, BAFT, SWIFT, and regional financial institution events.

  • Enhance CIBC's profile and reputation within the APAC financial institutions community.

  • Act as an ambassador for CIBC's Capital Markets and Global Transaction Banking businesses.

Who You Are

You Can Demonstrate

  • 15+ years of experience covering financial institutions within Corporate Banking, Capital Markets, Transaction Banking, Treasury Services, or Financial Institutions Group (FIG) businesses.

  • Significant experience managing senior relationships with banks and other financial institutions across APAC.

  • Proven success generating revenue and originating complex banking solutions.

  • Deep understanding of:

    • Correspondent Banking

    • Payments and Cash Management

    • Deposits and Liquidity Solutions

    • Trade Finance

    • Foreign Exchange

    • Capital Markets Products

    • Financial Institution Risk Management
