The goal of CIBC’s Capital Markets business is to be the premier client-focused Capital Markets business in Canada, Europe, Middle East and Asia. To deliver on this, the Capital Markets banking arm of CIBC provides a wide range of credit, global markets, investment banking and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate and retail clients in Canada and in key markets around the world.
The Financial Solutions Group supports the distribution of Structured Notes, Fixed Income, Money Market, Foreign Exchange, and Market-linked GICs to CIBC’s Wood Gundy Investment Advisors and Private Bankers, Retail Bank financial advisors and Third-party Advisors. The successful candidate will be primarily focused on distributing CIBC Structured Notes through various distribution networks in Continental Europe.
Originate and execute structured products deals (equity and fixed income)
Prospect and develop clients through outbound and follow-up calls, value-added transaction idea generation, client meetings/presentations and customized solutions, all the while providing trusted advice. Main focus will be in France and Benelux, occasionally some other jurisdictions.
Work closely with marketers and traders to develop appropriate structured products solutions and timely execution. Liaising with other CIBC infrastructure groups (treasury, tax, legal, client onboarding, etc) and resources, as appropriate, to deliver transactions
Determine and provide our clients with product / rate information in a timely manner with exemplary service
Great organization skills to develop and roll out a marketing plan
Cross-sell other products, depending on product availability and customers’ requirements, rate sensitivity, at all times making sound judgment
Monitor/track and analyze market activities, economic factors, on an ongoing basis throughout the day to be in a position to respond to client requests with timely trade ideas
On your own initiative, develop product knowledge through directed or self-directed study. Be prepared to cross train when the appropriate time arises, as suggested by management. Share any developed skills, knowledge, ideas with management and other members of the Financial Solutions Group. Attend learning sessions held by the Trading Room as required
Work together with relationship managers in Capital Markets across different product lines.
Other key infrastructure groups supporting the equity and fixed income derivatives, such as Middle Office, Finance, Technology and Operations.
Work effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies (e.g. Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance) to ensure all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputation issues and shareholder objectives are covered, and to promote the firm’s vision, mission and values.
As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.
Undergraduate University degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) preferred, with at least 6 years of similar or relevant business experience in structured products, as a sales role position in a bank or private bank.
Knowledge of current financial markets, and an understanding of current market transactions.
Able to very quickly acquire knowledge, to demonstrate competence and to add value to the transaction and client relationships
Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint ,etc.), other programing skills can be a plus
Efficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous projects
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, internal and/or external business partners
Significant presentation/interactive skills sufficient to clearly articulate complex conceptual information/ideas on issues involving extensive interpretation and opinion
Proven ability to develop viable product ideas and to lead product development process from idea generation through to closing. Strong project management skills
Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written, sufficient to convey complex factual and conceptual information on issues requiring detailed explanation and interpretation
Open concept trading floor environment with exposure to noise and distractions.
Often required to work beyond normal business hours.
Required to make frequent decisions in a fast paced work environment.
Self-motivated by sales and revenue targets
