Role
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Safe, Fair and Healthy Workplaces Division, the Executive Director, Employment Standards Program Delivery provides leadership and oversight for the delivery of employment standards programs, including the Office of the Employment Standards Registrar of Appeals. The position leads a senior management team responsible for the strategic planning and operational delivery of province-wide compliance, enforcement, and outreach programs, ensuring practices are balanced, consistent, and aligned with legislative requirements. This includes oversight of the issuance of permits and variances under Employment Standards legislation, as well as ensuring effective and timely appeals processes under the Employment Standards Code.
The Executive Director establishes and maintains strong partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of employment standards among industry, employers, and employees. In addition, the role represents the department in advancing these standards through collaboration and engagement. The position also leads the Temporary Foreign Worker Advisory Office, ensuring appropriate supports are in place for temporary foreign workers experiencing workplace challenges. Identifying emerging issues and ensuring effective policies, procedures, and resources are in place will be critical to achieving departmental and corporate priorities.
Qualifications
Your background includes extensive senior management experience in large, complex organizations, with a strong understanding of employment standards and program delivery. You are a proven leader who develops strategic direction and draws on insights from a broad range of stakeholders to inform decision-making. You effectively engage staff, build strong relationships, and navigate conflict resolution in a manner that aligns with organizational priorities. You have demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholder groups and delivering results in a cost‑effective manner. Your expertise in employment standards, combined with your exceptional communication skills, are key to your success. A related degree is required.
Salary
$5,896.65 - $7,749.28 bi-weekly ($153,902 - $202,256 yearly)
Notes
Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening.
Up to 20% travel is required to support operational oversight of seven office locations throughout Alberta.
