Job Description

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Begin every day with a full site inspection both inside and outside looking for safety, regulatory, cleanliness and neatness violations as well as inappropriate placement of furniture and decorations.
  2. Provide input and assist with the preparation of the operating and capital budgets.
  3. Maintain timely financial/marketing reporting to the Home Office with regard to various statistical reports including but not limited to census and turnover.
  4. Management of the entire facility’s operations, including physical space, staff, resident relations, community relations, marketing, food service, housekeeping, activities and wellness
  5. Oversee the management of all buildings and grounds in a manner consistent with management policies, safety considerations and regulatory requirements through oversight and follow up of the preventative maintenance systems and programs and frequent inspections.
  6. Maintain and update knowledge of governmental statutes and regulation affecting operations of the facility in order to meet continued licensure, registration, and certification of the facility.
  7. Oversee the interview, hiring, orientation, training/education, evaluation, counseling, disciplining, promotion and termination of staff members.
  8. Provide the time to complete the 2nd interview for applicants ensuring that all personnel are hired based upon their ability and competency to perform the job in accordance with written job descriptions.
  9. Determine or oversee the determination of quality and maintenance of staffing levels, employee files, and adherence to Federal, State, and local labor regulations. Delegate responsibility and authority to other facility staff where appropriate.
  10. Maintain staff morale and loyalty at a high level, by authorizing employee events, keeping staff well informed and interpreting personnel policies.
  11. Create an open-door policy for staff by allowing the time to be available for meetings, conferences and concerns.
  12. Create an environment for staff personnel to grow professionally.
  13. Allocate funds, authorize expenditures and control expenses in accordance with established budget continuously ensuring maximum profitability.
  14. Maintain an active relationship with the Residents through individual and group interaction. Meet regularly with the Residents at monthly Resident Council meetings and respond appropriately and timely to the issues and concerns that are raised.
  15. Create and maintain an atmosphere of caring, stability, and peace where the personal dignity of Residents is supported and the Residents are encouraged to live as closely as possible/practical to how they had been accustomed.
  16. Fully responsible for proper emergency and evacuation procedures and responses to Residents, their families and employees, ensuring community readiness for all cases of emergency.
  17. Develop marketing solutions to sustain maximum occupancy levels.
  18. Active participation in the regulatory processes of both the legislative and governmental agencies.
  19. Adhere to and uphold company policies and procedures.
  20. Represent the facility and the Company in a positive manner maintaining an image of social propriety and professional excellence.
  21. Establish and maintain liaison relationships and communications with area hospitals, social service agencies, mental health agencies, etc.
  22. Maintain the covenants of all management agreements, leases and contracts that have been signed by the Executive Board.
  23. All other duties as assigned by the COO, VP of Operations and/or Regional VP of Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Between 5-10 years of experience in health care or retirement living setting. At least two (2) years of related work experience must be of supervisory capacity.
  • New Jersey Executive Directors must hold a current NJ license as a nursing home administrator or hold a current New Jersey certification as an assisted living administrator and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Thorough understanding of the Department of Health regulations regarding Assisted Living in the state in which you are seeking employment.
  • Must be able to function smoothly, effectively and concentrate with many distractions.
  • Possess understanding, patience and tact in dealing with staff, Residents and their families
  • Must be emotionally, mentally and physically able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to provide required services to residents, including verbally communicating with residents.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English, which is the predominant language of a majority of our residents.
  • Must be able to listen attentively to residents' requests and preferences, ensuring exceptional customer service.
