Oversee and manage the day‑to‑day activities of all kitchen departments, ensuring seamless collaboration between outlets, banquets, stewarding, and purchasing to support exceptional service and operational efficiency.
Plan and manage the preparation and presentation of all food in the resort in a safe, sanitary, cost-effective manner.
Monitor and control the maintenance/sanitation of kitchen, equipment and related areas to ensure a healthy, safe work environment which meets/exceeds federal, state, corporate and franchise standards and regulations.
Develop, implement and manage the department's budget; continually analyze, forecast, monitor food costs through various methods to meet/exceed management/budget objectives.
Develop and implement menus and back-up (use records, production lists, pars, training, etc...) within corporate guidelines to continually improve revenues and profit margins while maintaining quality.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Develop, standardize and maintain all recipes within the resorts food management system to ensure consistency, quality, and brand alignment across all Food & Beverage outlets.
Serve as the lead for Alterra’s Health & Safety standards, ensuring all kitchen operations, staff practices, and food-handling procedures fully comply with corporate, state, and federal guidelines. Champion a culture of safety through training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee the monitoring, repair, and routine maintenance of all kitchen machinery, tools, and equipment; coordinate with internal maintenance teams or external vendors to ensure timely, cost‑effective service and minimize operational downtime.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to outlet chefs, assisting with menu development, operational consistency, staffing needs, and the execution of brand and quality standards across all locations.
Maintain an active community partnership with the Linwood Center, supporting outreach programs, coordinating culinary involvement, and representing the resort in community engagement initiatives.
Develop and maintain accurate, standardized recipes within the company’s food management system to ensure consistency, cost control, and operational efficiency across all culinary outlets.
Two+ years of post- high school education.
Degree/certificate in culinary education is required
Resort experience preferred.
West Virginia Food Handlers Certificate required within 30 days of hire.
Serve safe Certificate required within 3 months of hire.
Five+ years of employment in a relatedposition.
Strong knife handling skills
Experience with ovens, grills, broilers, sauté, fryers and other culinary instruments
Knowledge of safe food handling
Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people and/or complex problems and food and beverage management.
Knowledge of resort operations, including security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning.
Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals.
Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
Command of the English language both written and verbal.
