MARINUS LINK: A CRITICAL PART OF AUSTRALIA’S NEW ENERGY FUTURE
Marinus Link is a proposed electricity and telecommunications
interconnector between Tasmania and Victoria. It is recognised as an actionable
transmission project of national significance. Currently in the Manufacturing,
Construction and Commissioning phase, Marinus Link will support our nation’s
emission reduction targets and generate thousands of jobs at peak construction.
Our purpose is clear: to interconnect Australia’s renewable energy
for future generations.

Marinus Link is a new undersea and underground electricity and data interconnector between North West Tasmania and the Latrobe Valley in Victoria.
The two-way energy highway will enable Tasmania and Victoria to share much more electricity, pairing Victoria’s wind and solar with Tasmania’s flexible hydropower system and geographically diverse wind. This is a powerful synergy that strengthens the grid for both states.
Marinus Link's fibre optic cables will improve digital connectivity between Tasmania and Victoria by 150 times.
Marinus Link Pty Ltd (MLPL) is jointly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of Tasmania and the State of Victoria. MLPL is responsible for progressing the Marinus Link interconnector project.
