The successful candidate will either be at the ASO3 or ASO4 classification level depending on their experience, aptitude and qualifications.

About the Role

This is a varied, hands-on part-time role supporting the CEO and the leadership team across administration, events, membership and operations. AELERT is a small organisation, so this role touches almost everything, from booking travel to supporting board administration to helping coordinate events.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Strong organisational skills and genuine comfort managing multiple priorities at once.
• Excellent written communication and able to adapt tone for different audiences.
• A proactive, self-starting approach - comfortable picking things up and running with them in a small team with limited formal process.
• Discretion and sound judgement.
• Reliable, responsive and easy to work with under time pressure, particularly around events.

About the EPA

As South Australia’s independent environmental regulator, the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) plays a key role in protecting people and the environment from harm and supporting sustainable development for the benefit of current and future generations.

About AELERT

AELERT is the professional network for environmental regulators across Australia and New Zealand, connecting practitioners, building regulatory capability, and giving the profession a shared identity across jurisdictions. We are a small, fast-moving team supporting a national conference, a growing capability suite, an events program, and an expanding international presence.

What the EPA Offers

The EPA recognises the importance of balance and wellbeing and offers a range of different flexible working arrangements. These include flexitime (flexible start and finish times), working from home, part time, job share, compressed weeks and purchased leave.

Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge or Experience

• Experience in an EA, coordinator, or similar support role within a small team or not-for-profit.
• Experience supporting events or conference logistics.
• Familiarity with membership management or CRM-style systems.
• Interest in or experience with the public sector, regulation, or the environmental sector.
• Comfortable working across time zones and with remote/interstate or international colleagues.

Remuneration:

ASO3 or ASO4 ($74,095 - $86,180 per annum, adjusted to 0.6 FTE) + 12% super added to your choice of super fund.

Contract

Term contract (up to 6 months) and part time (22.5 hours per week).

Special Conditions

• Location: Negotiable – any location in Australia
• Part-time, flexible hours, with flexibility around scheduling given the varied nature of the work.
• Remote-friendly, with occasional attendance required at events.
• Reports directly to the CEO.
• This is a role in a genuinely small, growing organisation — there is real scope to shape how the role develops over time.
