About the role

As the Business Unit Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Business Unit and leadership team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy and dynamic business environment. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will provide proactive executive and administrative support, coordinate leadership team activities, manage complex schedules and correspondence, and ensure key governance and business processes are delivered efficiently and on time. Your ability to anticipate needs, build strong stakeholder relationships, and manage competing priorities will be critical to your success.

This is more than a traditional administration role. You will lead and coordinate the administration function across the Business Unit, providing guidance and support to administrative team members while driving consistency, compliance and continuous improvement. From preparing high-quality reports, presentations and committee documentation to overseeing information management, procurement activities and business support services, you will be a trusted partner to leaders and a key contributor to the effective delivery of business outcomes. This role is ideal for an experienced senior administrator or executive support professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys influencing, coordinating and improving business operations.

What you can expect with this role

  • Providing high-level executive and administrative support to the Head of Business Unit and leadership team, including complex diary management, meeting coordination and correspondence management.
  • Coordinating business governance activities, including the preparation of reports, presentations, briefing papers, committee documentation and ministerial-related correspondence.
  • Leading and supporting the administration function across the Business Unit, providing guidance, mentoring and coordination of administrative workflows and priorities.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a key liaison point to facilitate communication and timely business outcomes.
  • Managing information, records and business systems to ensure compliance with corporate policies, governance requirements and administrative standards.
  • Supporting operational activities including procurement, purchasing, travel arrangements, expense management and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance business efficiency and effectiveness.

Your skills and experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior administration, executive support or business coordination role within a large and complex organisation.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple activities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships at all levels and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proven capability in preparing high-quality business documentation, reports, presentations, board papers and committee materials.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and contribute to successful business outcomes.
  • Experience leading, mentoring or coordinating administrative functions, with a commitment to knowledge sharing, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

We’re the principal supplier of water, wastewater and drainage services in Western Australia to hundreds of thousands of homes, businesses and farms, as well as providing bulk water to farms for irrigation.

Our services, projects and activities span over 2.6 million square kilometres. We have regional offices in Perth, Bunbury, Albany, Karratha, Geraldton, Northam and Kalgoorlie which allow our employees to provide a high level of professional expertise to customers.

We have over 3,500 employees and manage an asset base of over $37 billion in water supply, wastewater, drainage infrastructure and bulk water for irrigation.

We’re owned by the Western Australian Government and are accountable to our sole shareholder, the Minister for Water, for delivery of our services in a commercial manner. Most of our surplus is returned to the government as a dividend to contribute to the development of the state, with the remainder reinvested in capital works.

Water Corporation was created in January 1996, in a restructure of the water industry in Western Australia. The Water Authority in turn had been created in 1985 through a merger of the former Metropolitan Water Authority, which operated in Perth, the state capital, and the water and wastewater operations of the former WA Public Works Department. We’re the seventh successive agency to deal with these services in Perth, Western Australia.
