Description

The Department for Aging and Independent Living oversees administration of statewide programs and services on
behalf of Kentucky’s older adults, individuals with disabilities, and their caregivers. The mission of the
Department for Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) is to promote the dignity, wellbeing, and independence of
Kentuckians and their caregivers.

The Executive Administrative Secretary provides high-level administrative support to the Commissioner's Office
within the Department for Aging and Independent Living. This position offers an excellent opportunity for
professional growth while making a meaningful impact on the lives of Kentuckians by supporting programs and
initiatives that promote healthy aging, independence, and stronger communities.

Benefits include schedule flexibility, day one health insurance, paid sick and vacation leave, and retirement
benefits. A hybrid schedule is offered with three in-office days in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Serves as administrative assistant to the Commissioner.
  • Manages sensitive and confidential information, prepares reports, memos, and other correspondence.
  • Utilizes knowledge and understanding of underlying operational issues to create, compose, and edit
    correspondence and documentation.
  • Schedules the Commissioner’s calendar, reviewing it for any conflicts, setting and moving appointments
    and meetings.
  • Coordinates meetings, program functions and/or special events.
  • Coordinate administrative activities and reporting across multiple organizational units.
  • Schedules and monitors projects and meetings.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Secretary’s Office, other departments and DAIL staff in the resolution of a
    variety of matters concerning all elements of the department’s operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and internet-based software
    applications.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with sound judgment and effective decision-making
    abilities.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing as a collaborative and dependable member of a
    team.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality
    customer service.
