The incumbent is responsible to assist the Actuarial Manager / Senior Manager to define and implement appropriate actuarial standards and work processes in relation to the provision of actuarial services to the Company.

Actuarial knowledge and skills are necessary in various aspects of insurance business, e.g. data analyses, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, preparation of statistical reports, calculation of reserves prescribed by Bank Negara Malaysia and stress testing on plausible risk scenarios.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure policyholder data is accurate and complete. Perform User Acceptance Testing to ensure changes to data extraction logic and data set up for new products are executed correctly.
• Process data to be used for actuarial valuation purposes. Ensure data is reconciled and accurate for the purposes of financial report production.
• Set up and analyze requirements for Alteryx and Prophet model office for new products / modifications. Ensure proper management of Alteryx and Prophet as evidenced by complete documentation.
• Perform actuarial valuation and other Prophet financial calculation runs as required by the Actuarial Manager / Senior Manager. Conduct reasonableness checks and analyses on results. Ensure accurate and timely production of financial calculations.
• Prepare and ensure accuracy of statutory returns to Bank Negara Malaysia (valuation and statistical reports) and other reports to the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia in a timely manner.
• Accurate and timely production of actuarial reserves in accordance with generally accepted actuarial principles and practices in line with regulatory and statutory requirements set up by Bank Negara Malaysia. Interpret and communicate movements of the actuarial reserves to the Actuarial Manager / Senior Manager.
• Provision of general actuarial support to other departments as necessary.
• Recommend solutions to improve governance, quality and transparency of processes and reports.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications:

• Degree in Actuarial Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics or other physical sciences or numerate discipline.
• Actively pursuing professional actuarial examinations

Experience:

• At least 3 years of relevant actuarial experience.

Knowledge

• Practical knowledge in Prophet (preferred) or other projection software would be preferred but training will be provided otherwise.
• Must be meticulous with the ability to work under pressure.
• Must be self-motivated with the ability to work under minimum supervision
