The Role

GrizzlyTrek is hiring Excavator Operators for our valued client's reclamation project in Estevan, Saskatchewan. The rate is $38.00 to $40.00 an hour. This is a living out allowance (LOA) project, and a truck allowance is paid on top of the hourly wage.

Reclamation puts disturbed ground back: moving and shaping material, rebuilding slopes and contours, and replacing subsoil and topsoil. From the hoe seat that means loading trucks, sloping, digging and backfilling, and finishing ground to grade, alongside haul trucks, other equipment and ground crews.

What You'll Do

• Operate an excavator on reclamation earthworks in the Estevan area
• Load haul trucks and move, place and shape material to plan
• Slope, contour and backfill disturbed ground to grade stakes and site direction
• Strip, stockpile and replace subsoil and topsoil
• Complete pre-use inspections, walkarounds and greasing before the machine moves
• Work safely around haul trucks, ground crews and other equipment
• Take part in hazard assessments, toolbox talks and safety meetings

What You Bring

• Verifiable seat time running an excavator
• Earthmoving experience: loading trucks, sloping, backfilling and working to grade
• Able to work safely and communicate clearly around haul trucks and ground crews
• Current safety training tickets
• Able to meet all of the pre-employment requirements listed below
• Able to work outdoors in all weather in the Estevan area for the project

Nice to Have

• Reclamation experience: mine, pipeline, lease or site reclamation
• GPS machine control experience
• Time in a second seat, such as dozer or rock truck

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Successful completion of Alcohol and Drug Screening
• Successful completion of comprehensive Fitness-to-Work Assessment. This assessment is job-related, focusing on the physical demands and safety sensitive nature of the work, and is conducted in accordance with Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, 2018. The assessment will cover:
• Health History Review: A thorough examination of the candidate's health background.
• Pre-Medical Evaluation: Measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Musculoskeletal Examination: A head-to-toe assessment to identify any limitations or concerns related to physical health.
• Critical Strength and Mobility Test: A series of tasks assessing lifting, carrying, and positional abilities aligned with the job's physical demands (up to 50 lbs).
• Worker to provide current safety training tickets, valid government issued identification, and CSA approved safety boots (minimum 6 inch, fully laceable)

Employment is conditional upon successfully meeting all of the pre-employment requirements listed above.

Work Environment

• Outdoor reclamation work in all weather, including heat, cold, wind and dust
• Long periods seated in the machine, plus climbing on and off equipment
• Physical work that can include lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
• Noise and vibration from heavy equipment, with haul trucks and ground crews working nearby

Why Operators Take This Job

$38.00 to $40.00 an hour is posted up front, and where you land in that range comes down to the seat time you can show. The living out allowance and the truck allowance are paid on top of the hourly, so the cost of working in Estevan and getting to site does not come out of your wage.

Pay is a gross hourly rate before deductions.
