Inside the Role

This position is considered the Detroit (including DA-Saltillo) Project Lead for the eWM (Extended Warehouse Management) project.

This position is responsible for managing the roll-out of eWM for Detroit and Saltillo, which is the next generation of warehouse management that will replace the current WM in Daimler Trucks SAP system. The individual is responsible for working with an international project team and will represent Detroit’s interest in the development and implementation of the solution during this multi-year project. Key project phases include documentation of system requirements, testing phase, implementation phase and support of operations after go-live.

This position will prepare Detroit for the implementation of eWM within the global project timeline. Collaboration with business stakeholders, IT teams, and third-party organizations, both domestic and international, is required. Collaboration may be in person, online, and during non-traditional local work hours. A small project team will be created with business partners and IT to support the success of the project.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Develop and manage all aspects of the eWM project and operational budgets for Detroit
  • Define and implement an effective project structure and reporting cadence
  • Apply comprehensive project management methodologies to ensure status transparency and application of lessons learned from other IT / PTSI projects
  • Deliver project results by establishing and managing project scope, ensuring that key functionality is delivered on time and with appropriate quality
  • Obtain appropriate documented approvals, as needed
  • Responsible for the completion of training documentation and subsequent training needed for adherence to the developed processes
  • Evaluate and diagnose project status and readiness
  • Focus on the big picture and overall system landscape, understanding of how processes and systems are linked
  • Drive continuous improvement through implementation of best practices
  • Initiate escalation processes regarding project deviations (risk-management), when needed
  • Responsible for project reporting to a wide variety of audiences
  • Conduct business blue printing workshops and Document current (AS-IS) business process
  • Identify/document process and system gaps
  • Define (TO-BE) business processes according to the current PTSI landscape/functionality, interfaces and master data requirement
  • Provide work package status reports for project management on a weekly basis
  • Lead the assigned work package communication cadence to ensure all necessary individuals are informed of project status
  • Supporting the IT functional leads in functional and technical solution definition
  • Define E2E business case scenarios and document test cases in the test management tool
  • Prepare master data in the test environment for target productive environment
  • Conduct E2E integration testing of business scenarios with test user roles
  • Define data migration and cleansing strategy
  • Support the business user in data cleansing, data validation and user acceptance test
  • Support the IT lead during the data migration test cycle
  • Define user roles, training plan, prepare training content and train key users
  • Enable business users for system cutover, ensure completeness and accuracy of migration
  • Obtain business approval for milestone closure, prior to cutover and go-live
  • Enable functional support post go-live
  • Solve complex business challenges through detailed process knowledge
  • Create an atmosphere of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of process and system knowledge
  • Focus on the big picture of the overall business process and system landscape

Supplemental Job Functions

  • Ensure a link/interface between Global and local Project team to document process changes and/or requirements for IT template launches to achieve business and functional process standardization
  • Support key projects within Logistics department affecting ERP
  • Support business process improvements for Logistics based on benchmark practices

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing, production, supply chain or supplier management, preferably in automotive or heavy-duty vehicle manufacturing
  • Previous project management experience and strong analytical skills, experience working in a matrixed global organization with cross-functional teams
  • Detailed knowledge of system landscape (regional and global) for Detroit Diesel Corporation and the Global Truck technology group, supply chain principles/processes and manufacturing processes & practices·
  • Proficiency in ERP systems; experience with supply chain analytics tools.·
  • Manufacturing, production and/ or Supply chain experience and strong network within global TT organization & DTNA, Familiarity with TT tools and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to create strategies, align the organization and implement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and detailed oriented work environment·
  • Experience strong competency for managing cross functional and global teams is required.
  • Ability to lead a project team in challenging environment; balance strategic and operational tasks; prioritize activities.
  • Ability to be a great team player with multiple stakeholders within and across different business units.
  • Excellent track record in communicating verbally and in writing at all levels, both internally and with external stakeholders
  • Ability to conduct workshops and speak in front of large groups
  • Ability to identify/oversee E2E interdependencies between project work packages·
  • Resiliency and the ability to understand and analyze complex issues/situations quickly·

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing facility concepts
  • Extensive MRP system (PTSI) knowledge and experience
  • Experience working in a global organization with many lines of communication
