Job Summary:
As an Event Host, you’ll be part of a team focused on the daily operations of our on-mountain athletic events, from setting up the event site through event execution, to tear-down and clean-up once the event is complete. You’ll gain valuable work experience and develop efficient work practices that are transferable to many future employment opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Continually strive to exceed our guests’ expectations and create memorable experiences for guests and staff, contributing to the best mountain experience again and again.
  • Stay up to date with all event information and act as a Whistler Blackcomb ambassador at all times, both on and off the job.
  • Assist with the training and ongoing guidance of volunteer crews, leading by example.
  • Assist with event venue construction, including building scaffolding, installing fencing, tents, banners, cabling, and other event infrastructure.
  • Maintain continuous attention to detail regarding event safety, including ongoing maintenance of event venues as required.
  • Be assigned specific responsibilities during the setup and strike of event equipment, while leading volunteers to assist with the same.
  • Assume different positions during events and demonstrate the ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • Ensure the responsible use and proper daily storage of timing equipment, fencing, banners, shovels, and other event materials.
  • Report any damage to event equipment or required repairs to the Supervisor or Lead Hand immediately, taking appropriate steps to correct issues when possible.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safe access to equipment storage areas located throughout the valley and on the mountain.
  • Assist with the transportation of event equipment, either by hand or by loading transportation vehicles and systems.
  • Learn functional job skills in at least one additional area within the department.
  • Be responsible for the radios, tools and event equipment.
  • Work collaboratively across the company and assist other departments as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Resume is required.
  • BC Drivers License is required.
  • Previous Sporting, Race or Competition experience is required.
  • Must have an outgoing, friendly personality and demonstrate a commitment to exceeding guests’ expectations.
  • Must be hardworking and a strong team player.
  • Able to work extended hours outdoors in an alpine mountain environment with variable weather conditions, including snow, wind, cold, and sun, for 8+ hours per day.
  • Able to work holidays, weekends, and evenings as required.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs while skiing competently on difficult terrain.
  • Ability to safely and confidently use power tools, including cordless drills, saws, and similar equipment.
  • Proof of a clear criminal record check is required.

The expected pay range is $20.00/hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
