With more than a million players playing badminton every month in England, badminton is the nation’s most played racket sport and the sixth biggest sport overall in this country. Quite simply, we want to inspire everyone to play more, support the sport and love, live and breathe badminton.

Role summary

Our domestic competition pathway currently exists over 300 competitions, largely delivered by a voluntary workforce in which the competition team provides the infrastructure and support for local tournaments. We currently deliver approximately 20 events including Junior Internationals, National Championships Series, County Competitions, and National Badminton League.

The Booking and Logistics role plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient administrative and logistical delivery of Badminton England’s programmes, competitions and education activities. This role is responsible for managing bookings for coach education courses, competitions and events, and for coordinating logistical operations that support a wide range of national programmes.

The role will also support the overall administration and delivery of competitions, such as entry fee management, player communication, event accreditation, competition logistics (travel, accommodation, catering), and attendance at tournaments throughout the year to support or deliver on different aspects of competition.

Key responsibilities:

• Understand the requirements of a range of teams in terms of bookings and logistic needs and deliver an approach that accomplishes these with maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage venue bookings for coach education courses, competitions and events, ensuring accurate administration and a positive experience for partners and participants.
• Build and manage relationships with key venues, identifying opportunities, efficiencies and managing costs.
• Undertake booking requirements for Development Team programmes where appropriate, ensuring smooth planning and delivery.
• Oversee logistics for competitions, such as packing, dispatching and tracking of equipment and materials ensuring reliable and cost-effective transportation of materials.
• Support event delivery, to ensure all logistical elements are prepared and delivered on schedule.
• Raising invoices and purchase orders on the internal finance system. Managing player payments, including refunds through PayPal.
• Support with the delivery of competition, such as player entries, volunteer recruitment, accreditation, tournament and league management systems, overseeing competition logistics.
• Attendance including overnights at approximately five events through the season. Leading or supporting the delivery of the competition.

Successful Candidate:

• Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in logistics coordination, event operations or administrative roles within a sports or events environment.
• Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in handling bookings and logistical information.
• Ability to work confidently with suppliers, couriers and external partners.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with internal teams and build relationships with external partners.
• Proficiency with administrative systems, databases and digital booking tools.
• Ability to design processes, problem solve and respond effectively to unexpected logistical challenges.
• Commitment to providing high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to safely handle, pack and manage physical resources and equipment.
• Understanding of the operational requirements of sports events, competitions or education programmes.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of logistical processes.

Job Title: Events Coordinator – Bookings & Logistics

Office Location: National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes (Hybrid working with minimum 2 days in the office to include Thursdays)

Term: Fixed-Term contract, maternity cover

Hours: Full-time (35.58h per week)

Salary: £25,000
