Salary:
$16.16 hourly rateThis position involves responsibility for implementing, planning, and participating in work with special events or performing arts. This position reports to the Special Events Coordinator or the Central Park Performing Arts Center (CPPAC) Manager.
Work Schedule: Hours and shifts vary for this position from week to week and may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Assignment: Weekly schedule is determined on an as-needed basis and can range from no hours to up to 40 hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management

Technical
Special Events
• May open, close, and secure a park/facility and ensure all rules and regulations of the park/facility are enforced
• May be directed to complete daily safety inspections of facility and parkland to ensure safety and aesthetic standards are met
• Assists with maintenance of equipment and facility as directed
• Administers first aid and ensures participant safety
• Assists with facility or park special events, rentals, vendors, and entertainers in setting up, planning, or breaking down an event
CPPAC
• Answer telephones
• Provides daily box office operations, ticket sales, and operation of computerized ticketing systems following box office procedures and policies
• Prepares daily financial reports
• May be responsible for physically setting up and tearing down tables and chairs
• May be responsible for supervising rentals and assuring that client needs are met and that the facility is set correctly and functioning

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
SPECIAL EVENTS
• Must be 16 years old at date of application
• Some experience in recreation setting or customer service preferred
• Team Members under the age of 18 will be restricted from the following tasks:
◦ Driving any vehicles (including personal vehicles) during scheduled work hours
◦ Operating utility vehicles
CPPAC
• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• One (1) year of experience in leisure services or a related field is preferred
• Customer service skills required
• Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License, depending on the assignment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of facility, program, and special event operations
• Ability to give, receive and follow oral communication
• Ability to work with people tactfully
• Ability to do light to heavy manual work
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
(Special Events) 5% inside a climate-controlled building, and 95% outside, sometimes in hot, humid, or inclement conditions.
(CPPAC) 80% inside a climate-controlled building and 20% outside, which may include driving.Depending on the assignment, work environments may vary significantly.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
(Special Events) The essential functions of the job require: sitting for approximately one (1) hour, standing, and walking up to seven (7) to eleven (11) hours in any assigned eight (8) to twelve (12) hour shift (or prorated based on the number of hours per shift). The work requires frequent: bending/stooping, climbing, crawling, fine manipulations, grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 60 pounds, occasional lifting/carrying of objects weighing over 60 lbs. (CPPAC) The essential functions of the job require sitting approximately two (2) hours per day, standing approximately four (4) hours per day, and walking approximately two (2) hours per day. The work often requires bending/stopping, climbing, crawling, fine manipulations, grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, lifting/carrying objects weighing up to and over 45 pounds.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Hearing: Enough to understand what others are saying in normal conversation in person and on the telephone, and the ability to detect specific noises and properly operate equipment. Speaking: Enough to communicate orally with others in person and on the telephone and to be able to acknowledge and follow instructions. Seeing: Enough to operate a vehicle and equipment. Ability to see and read computer monitor.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:
Staff members under the age of 18 years old are NOT permitted to drive.Some positions may require a valid Florida Driver's License or a valid license from another state for occasional driving of trucks and/or a van (if assigned to Largo Central Park).
OTHER:
The work requires the ability to operate the following machines: small utility vehicles, copiers, printers, and computers. Workers may occasionally use a laminating machine, printers, and helium tank.
