Job Description
Prepares and serves beverages to guests and servers in a timely, efficient, friendly, and professional manner. Follows standard recipes for traditional cocktails and specialty drinks while ensuring high-quality service and guest satisfaction.
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions
• Prepare beverages for guests and servers according to standard recipes, maintaining proper portion control.
• Deliver a fun, high-energy guest experience while maintaining professionalism and service standards.
• Maintain bar setup daily, including stocking liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, condiments, and glassware. Open and close the bar per standard procedures.
• Describe and recommend wines, beers, and spirits; upsell food and beverage items to maximize profitability.
• Accurately handle cash, credit cards, room charges, and other transactions in accordance with company policies. Balance bank and calculate tip-outs at end of shift.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, alcohol service (TIPS), and health department regulations.
• Adhere to all safety policies, including wearing non-slip, oil-resistant shoes and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, HAZMAT program, and MSDS requirements.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled; regular attendance is essential.
Other Responsibilities / Support Functions
• Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including clearing glassware, disposing of waste, and wiping surfaces.
• Ensure alcohol is not served to minors or intoxicated guests; notify management of any issues.
• Conduct opening and closing inventory; complete requisitions and required paperwork.
• Report unsafe conditions, maintenance needs, or accidents to management.
• Resolve guest concerns within scope of authority; escalate when necessary.
• Notify supervisor or Security of unusual events, missing items, or suspected theft.

Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of bartending experience, preferably in a hotel or resort environment.
• Strong knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, and guest relations.
• Extensive knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, and cocktail preparation.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain professionalism.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to operate POS systems and related technology.
• Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must obtain/maintain TIPS® certification and a valid Food Handler’s Card.
• Knowledge of applicable alcohol service laws and health regulations.
• Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
• Frequent standing and walking for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly.
• Frequent reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Continuous verbal communication and active listening.
• Exposure to hot and cold environments, including kitchens and refrigeration areas.
• Work in noisy, fast-paced, and crowded environments.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, sharp objects, and potential slip hazards.
• Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as reading labels, IDs, and operating POS systems.
