Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga is seeking a full-time Triage Veterinary Assistant to join our exceptional Emergency & Critical Care team. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

As a Triage Veterinary Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping our emergency team provide timely, compassionate care to critically ill and injured patients.

Responsibilities include:
  • Triage incoming emergency patients
  • Obtain patient histories and vital signs
  • Safely restrain patients for examinations and procedures
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with diagnostics and treatments
  • Prepare and dispense medications as directed
  • Clean, organize, and restock treatment areas
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners during stressful situations
  • Support efficient patient flow throughout the hospital
  • Maintain accurate medical records and assist with daily hospital operations

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Previous veterinary, kennel, shelter, or animal care experience preferred
  • Veterinary assistant experience is a plus but not required—we are willing to train motivated candidates
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Calm, positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask and work collaboratively with a team
  • Compassion, empathy, and emotional intelligence when interacting with clients
  • Passion for helping animals and supporting exceptional patient care
Schedule Requirements

This is a full-time night shift position:

Monday–Thursday | 5:00 PM – 3:00 AM

As a 24-hour emergency hospital, holidays may be required.
