European Engineering Technician
(all genders)
What does a typical day look like? These are your main tasks:
The European Engineering Technician is the regional support for Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation (EC&I), supporting European manufacturing sites in, electrical integrity, spares management and technical standardization. The role manages spares, assists with commissioning and fault diagnosis, and drives best practices in EC&I project design and maintenance. Through collaboration and technical advice, the technician will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across all sites.

EC&I Capital Project Design
• Assist in the design and execution of EC&I capital projects.
• Support internal delivery of detailed design to reduce external resource costs.
• Contribute to scope development and technical documentation for EI programs.
• Understand the principles of equipment selection to include
◦ cable selection
◦ ATEX equipment selection
◦ Motor sizing
◦ VSD selection
◦ Instrumentation
• Ability to undertake and lead EU Atex inspections and pass knowledge onto site personnel
Best in Class Spares Management
• Manage a master register for common site spares across all sites in Europe.
• Work with sites to track and manage spares on EU sites
• Work with purchasing to manage purchase spares which are common across all sites
• Work with the Mechanical integrity pillar to achieve best in class maintenance programs
• Ability to integrate common spare parts into existing panels
• Solid understanding and implementation techniques of condition monitoring into existing equipment.
Electrical Integrity Program Support
• Contribute to lifecycle strategy for electrical infrastructure.
• Apply knowledge in cable calculations, fault studies, ATEX equipment selection, and maintenance best practices.
• Help safeguard long-term productivity and improve energy efficiency.
• Support proactive EI program management to prevent failures and reduce downtime risks.
• Good understanding of electrical maintenance procedures and engineering best practices
• Ability to read technical documentation and review data to diagnose faults at a preliminary stage before catastrophic failure.
EC&I Technical Standards Development
• Support the development and roll-out of standardized EC&I design, installation, and commissioning practices.
• Promote harmonized engineering solutions across European sites to reduce rework and improve efficiency.
Commissioning
• Assist with commissioning activities across European sites
• Ability to drive best Engineering practices across European sites
• Drive high standards of H&S when undertaking commissioning and site based activities with an ability to convey to others
• Support all EU sites in fault diagnosis of complex EC&I technical faults
• Ability to understand and read electrical schematics.
Discipline Engineering Support
• Provide expert EC&I support to sites, increasing internal capacity.
• Assist with site compliance, authority engagement, and improvement initiatives.
What is required to be successful in this role? (Education & Experience):
• Completion of a technical apprenticeship with a focus on Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation (EC&I)
• Academic qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, Bachelor’s degree) in an engineering-related discipline is desirable.
• Certifications: Compex or equivalent ATEX certifications or proven experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a maintenance role within an industrial or engineering environment
• Proven experience supporting and delivering EC&I projects, including commissioning and technical fault diagnosis.
Travel for periods within Europe (typical duration 1 week) when business requires.
