The opportunity
As a Lead Planner you will report to the E&U Planning Manager working across Power and transmission and substation projects. You will be responsible for managing a team and preparing, maintaining and monitoring schedules for the program and projects delivered under Build Better Together.
This is a full-time permanent role and will consider candidates in Brisbane or Sydney with flexible/hybrid working. You will also be required to travel to site when required.
What you’ll do
Work across the Bid and Delivery stages of multiple projects.
Prepare and oversee the team in terms of resource and cost loaded detailed project delivery schedules, for allocated projects/work packages, using past construction knowledge and experience that accurately reflect the conditions of the contract, design and specifications.
Maintain and update the project schedule, where applicable, incorporating subcontract schedules, to ensure appropriate execution of work package plans are completed as required.
Ensure compliance with Downer’s Standards and requirements as set by Utilities Performance Commercial & Risk Team, in terms of Schedule Quality and Change Management.
Perform delay analysis as needed by the Contract and support with suitable narrative.
Manage/ undertake, review and analysis of sub-contractor schedules to confirm alignment with good scheduling practice and Downer standards and requirements.
Assist in the development of project practices and procedures.
Undertake reporting requirements of internal and external stakeholders.

What we’re looking for
Tertiary qualification – Degree, or equivalent, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management or Project Management preferred
10+ years site construction experience on water, power transmission, substation, networks or plant shutdown projects
Leadership and management experience
Excellent knowledge and understanding of CPM scheduling concepts and delay analysis techniques
Previous commercial experience planning and scheduling for small and large projects using Primavera P6 (essential) and Microsoft Project (used predominately) for subcontract program management.
Previous experience in Earned Value Management System
Microsoft Visio knowledge and working experience
Microsoft PowerBi (Desirable) and developing reporting dashboards
Certifications/Competence on Primavera P6 Scheduling tool (Required)
A Project Management certification (Desirable)
Oracle DB knowledge and qualifications
Risk Management (Desirable)
Extension of Time and Delay Analysis
Analytical skills and self-discipline
