This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an ETRM System Specialist based in Canada.

The ETRM System Specialist will play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and optimizing enterprise applications that support complex business operations.

Accountabilities:

    The ETRM System Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise, application support, and ongoing improvements for systems supporting commodity management processes. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners to ensure applications remain reliable, secure, and aligned with organizational objectives.

    • Provide responsive, customer-focused application support for business teams involved in commodity management processes.
    • Maintain, enhance, and support complex enterprise applications, including security updates, version upgrades, code modifications, and data management activities.
    • Ensure application performance and reliability while meeting established service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Develop technical solutions for operational needs and project initiatives.
    • Apply structured IT practices throughout the Systems Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC), including analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation.
    • Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable, efficient ETRM application solutions.
    • Support disaster recovery planning, continuity of operations activities, and testing processes for critical applications.
    • Evaluate technical solutions, assess financial impacts, and recommend cost-effective approaches that meet business requirements.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues while following best practices for solution development and deployment.
    • Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate potential technology solutions.
    • Collaborate with external vendors to address issues, manage enhancements, and support application improvements.
    • Contribute to enterprise technology initiatives that impact multiple business areas.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate has experience supporting enterprise applications and a strong technical background in systems analysis, development, and integration. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.

      • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting, developing, and enhancing large-scale corporate applications.
      • Experience gathering business requirements and analyzing complex technical needs to design effective solutions.
      • Experience supporting and maintaining ETRM/CTRM systems, such as Allegro Horizon, is considered an asset.
      • Familiarity with pricing repository systems such as ZE/ZEMA is an asset.
      • Experience integrating ETRM/CTRM platforms with external trading systems and software is preferred.
      • Understanding of commodity trading processes, including trade-to-cash workflows, power, natural gas, and emissions markets, is an asset.
      • Strong experience with system integration and support for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications.
      • Experience with systems analysis, design, and programming for highly available enterprise environments.
      • Minimum of 3 years of SQL query development experience using databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake.
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Microsoft .NET C# programming.
      • Strong application testing skills, including planning, organizing, and executing test activities.
      • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
      • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, planning, and customer relationship management skills.
      • Knowledge of SDLC methodologies, including custom development and COTS implementation frameworks.
