Introduction to the job

ASML is seeking for an experienced Ethics & Business Integrity Officer to support and strengthen its global Ethics & Compliance function. This role plays a critical part in maintaining ASML’s strong ethical culture by ensuring adherence to internal policies, applicable laws, and the company’s core values. The role holder will be expected to handle complex and sensitive matters, exercising independent professional judgement and bringing deep subject-matter expertise to bear on issues with high business impact.

The Senior Ethics Officer will report to the Head of Ethics and works closely with colleagues in Legal & Compliance, HR, Internal Audit, and business leadership.

Key responsibilities and main tasks

- Ethics Advisory & Case Management:

  • Provide expert guidance on ethical dilemmas, business conduct issues, and policy interpretation.

  • Manage end-to-end handling of ethics cases, including intake, triage, investigation coordination, and resolution.

  • Ensure consistent, fair, and timely handling of cases in line with ASML policies and regulatory standards.

  • Support root-cause analysis and trend identification based on reported concerns.

- Investigations & Risk Management:

  • Lead or oversee complex and sensitive investigations with high business impact and potential senior-level visibility, including matters with CET/ET-level exposure where relevant, ensuring objectivity and confidentiality.

  • Collaborate with Legal, Employee Relations, HR and Internal Audit on investigations and remediation actions.

  • Identify systemic risks and provide recommendations to mitigate ethical and compliance exposures.

  • - Policy & Framework Development:

  • Support the maintenance and evolution of ASML’s Code of Conduct and ethics policies.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of global ethics frameworks and standards.

  • Ensure alignment with international regulations and best practices.

- Training & Culture Building:

  • Drive ethics awareness and training initiatives across regions and functions.

  • Promote a strong “speak-up” culture, ensuring employees feel safe to raise concerns.

  • Partner with HR and Communications to embed ethical behavior into leadership and performance frameworks.

  • - Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and engage with (senior) stakeholders as subject-matter expert, bringing rigorous and independent analysis to ethics-related matters and enabling well-founded decision-making.

  • Collaborate across global teams to ensure consistent application of ethics processes.

  • Support reporting to senior management and governance bodies on ethics metrics and insights.

- Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Analyze ethics data (e.g., hotline reports, survey data) to identify trends and improvement areas.

  • Prepare reports and dashboards for leadership and governance forums.

  • Monitor effectiveness of ethics programs and recommend enhancements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and consistency of ethics processes, applying legal operations thinking and contributing to operational excellence across the Ethics function.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Ethics, or a related field.

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in ethics, compliance, investigations, or related roles in a law firm and/or multinational organization.

  • Strong experience in handling sensitive investigations and case management.

  • Experience handling matters with board-level or executive-level visibility.

  • Solid working knowledge of global compliance frameworks (e.g., anti-corruption, whistleblower protection, corporate governance).

  • Proven ability to operate in complex, matrixed, and multicultural environments, with significant experience in an international context across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Global mindset – experience working across regions and cultures.

  • Full professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken

This position is part of the Ethics & Business Integrity Office, which is part of the Legal & Compliance function within ASML.
