Job Description

In a nutshell

In compliance with Sainsbury’s and Argos Code of Conduct and Brand Standards, our Ethical Lead will provide analytical and technical support to ensure the delivery of Ethical Trading throughout the Non-Food supply chain.

What I am accountable for

  • Support the development and operational delivery of the ethical trading policies and procedures.
  • Support site management by offering expert guidance to the technical teams on recommendations for audit CAP closures, any follow ups required and timeframes.
  • Support with the review of ethical policies and processes, making recommendations based on country challenges or changes.
  • Support the Commercial teams with factory onboarding of new sites and visiting sites within the EU where applicable.
  • Using internal risk data, conduct analysis of site remit to plan, prioritise and carry out site visits.
  • Provide internal audit reports following site visits, including following up of any CAP closure or escalations to the business.
  • Design capacity building opportunities for regional sites based on analysis and support with the roll out of these. This may include on site / off site trainings or supporting third party initiatives / programs.
  • Support the Ethical Manager & CR&S team in rolling out the Human Rights commitments in prioritised supply chains.
  • Conduct shadow audits with third parties to ensure consistency with our standards, feeding into a quarterly audit review.
  • Cascade emerging in country trends to internal teams.
  • Develop and roll out ethical training to internal teams based on new trends and emerging country requirements.
  • Support the investigation of serious incidents by leading on site review (where necessary) and drive follow ups to ensure the closure of issues.

What I need to know

Essential

  • Experience of social compliance audit
  • Experience with manufacturing practices in Europe / Asia.
  • Project management skills.
  • Familiar with local labour laws, international directives, standards, code of conduct etc. that is applicable to manufacturing in Europe / Asia.
