Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator - Take-off Specialist to play a critical role in coordinating HVAC mechanical designs with manufacturing processes.

In this contract position based in Tallassee, AL, you will analyze commercial HVAC mechanical plans, identify required roof curbs, adapters, and accessories, and generate accurate material lists and price quotes. Your role will involve close collaboration with sales and production teams to ensure project specifications are met and manufacturing errors are minimized.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive take-offs from commercial mechanical (M-series) and architectural drawings.
• Cross-reference HVAC unit model numbers (Carrier, Trane, Lennox, etc.) with specific curb/adapter footprints.
• Calculate material requirements including sheet metal gauge and insulation, and labor to provide competitive, accurate customer quotes.
• Collaborate with sales and production teams to ensure custom-manufactured parts meet project specifications.
• Maintain organized records of quotes and project details within internal tracking systems.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years in construction estimating, HVAC parts distribution, or sheet metal fabrication.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and construction drafts.
• Basic understanding of HVAC equipment and commercial roofing terminology.
• Ability to detect small discrepancies in prints that could lead to manufacturing errors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with take-off software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift) is a major plus.
