REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports To: Senior Estimator

Direct Reports: n/a


The Estimator is responsible for managing the full estimating process for commercial, industrial, and institutional HVAC and Plumbing projects. Reporting to the Senior Estimator, this role works closely with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to develop accurate budgets, proposals, and hard bids while maintaining strong client relationships throughout the bid process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures that the client receives regular communication leading up to the bid date

  • Provides budget pricing and developmental estimates to stay engaged with the client

  • Attends job meetings, walk-throughs, and client meetings

  • Works with the take-off team to ensure time is allowed and scope is clear

  • Establishes relationships with suppliers and vendors to get timely pricing and qualified bids

  • Reviews bid list and develops timeline to meet project bid date

  • Reviews bid requirements and scope of work; organizes bid documents

  • Schedules the take-off to meet the project deadline

  • Reviews vendor and subcontractor quotes and qualifications

  • Compiles the estimate and develops the scope letter

  • Schedulestimely turnover of estimates to operations for secured work

  • Follows up with client regularly to gain feedback

  • Reviews contracts and scope of work prior to passing to operations for approval

  • Provides an informational handoff to operations

  • Assists project management with buyout process

MINIMUM AND/OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering

  • Active participation in industry organizations preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 3–5 years of experience in estimating and/or project management with a mechanical subcontractor

  • Experience working with commercial HVAC and Plumbing systems

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • No specific certifications required at time of hire

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills; collaborative and team oriented

  • Highly technical; proficient at reading plans and specifications; knowledgeable of local code requirements, systems, and construction standards

  • Highly organized; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; excellent oral and written communication skills
