The Electrical Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical and power‑related projects based on written specifications, customer requirements, and evolving project scope. This role requires strong technical judgment, comfort estimating from incomplete information, and the ability to develop assumptions where full designs are not yet defined. This position works closely with Sales, Engineering, and Project Management to support early‑stage pricing, identify risk, and ensure estimates reflect electrical scope, constructability, and industry requirements.

ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

  • Review and interpret written electrical specifications, one‑lines, and partial drawings
  • Develop conceptual electrical scope and assumptions to support early‑stage estimates
  • Identify electrical cost drivers, scope gaps, and installation risks
  • Prepare budgetary and detailed estimates prior to final design completion
  • Apply value‑engineering concepts to meet customer budgets and performance requirements
  • Estimate electrical labor by process (fabrication, wiring, assembly, field installation assumptions if applicable)
  • Price electrical materials and components including (but not limited to):
    • Switchgear, controls, panels, enclosures
    • Cable, conduit, raceways, grounding
    • Electrical accessories and purchased components
  • Develop labor and material assumptions consistent with manufacturing and electrical assembly capabilities
  • Document estimate assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications clearly
  • Partner with Sales to support customer proposals and electrical scope clarification
  • Collaborate with Engineering to align estimates with electrical design intent and manufacturability
  • Work with Project Management to support smooth handoff from quote to execution
  • Maintain ownership of assigned electrical quotes from RFQ intake through final submission
  • Generate and revise quotes electronically as scope and electrical requirements evolve
  • Ensure compliance with customer, industry, and applicable electrical standards

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in electrical estimating, electrical engineering, or industrial electrical manufacturing
  • Strong ability to interpret electrical specifications, one-line diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Working knowledge of electrical power and/or control systems
  • Ability to estimate projects with incomplete or evolving electrical designs
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and comfort working with ambiguity

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with industrial power, generator systems, switchgear, or control panels
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, customer specifications)
  • Ability to create or interpret conceptual electrical layouts or block diagrams
  • Knowledge of value‑engineering and cost‑risk evaluation
  • ERP experience (Infor CSI / Syteline preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel required)
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus
