Job Description

We are searching for a qualified Estimator with minimum 10 years of experience to join the team of a well-respected, well-established general contractor based in the NY Metro area. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of all building trades. Strong change order evaluation and negotiation experience required. Experience dealing with GSA, DASNY, DEP, COE, NYC Agencies. Proven history of successful estimating ability. Duties will include complete project administration from bid phase to project close out. Engineering Degree preferred. Scheduling a must. Computer proficiency required. 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
- Prepare bid packages 
- Prepare quantity take-offs and estimates on various projects 
- Prepare Submittal packages 
- Develop relationships with clients 
- Coordinate, budget, prepare and analyze bids for large and small scale projects 
- Develop spreadsheets and prepare bid documents provide 
other services such as change order pricing, site visits 
- Review plans and specifications of drawings 
- Distribute bid documents to subcontractors 
- Select subcontractor bid invitation list and follow up for pricing 
- Prepare subcontractor comparison sheets for evaluation 
- Prepare bid proposal, including the cost breakdown, clarifications, scope and 
exclusions 
- Maintain dated drawing list 
- Site Visits and or pre-bid conference 
- Substantiate and track client and subcontract change orders 
- Maintain positive client/subcontractor relationships 
- Submittal package and coordination 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelors degree in engineering plus related estimating education. 
- Experience with public projects, specifically with GSA, COE,DASNY, SCA and DDC. 
- Extreme attention to detail. 
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work 
assignments. 
- Ability to estimate entire project including MEP. 
- Ability to perform buyouts. 
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
- Own database of subcontractors is a plus. 
- Experience in estimating with public agencies. 
- Must have the ability to conceptually budget, meet deadlines. 
- Experience with construction drawings, specifications, architectural sketches. 
- Good computer skills ( MS Office/Excel/Autocad/timberline). 
- Must have estimated projects from $3,000,000 to $100mm.
