About the Role

Reporting to a Senior Estimator, you will support estimates from the initial review of tender documents through pricing, internal review, submission and project handover. You will work closely with estimating, planning, construction and commercial teams, as well as suppliers and subcontractors, to develop accurate and practical cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare first-principles estimates for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Complete and check quantity take-offs and pricing build-ups.
  • Develop direct-cost, indirect-cost and preliminary cost allowances.
  • Prepare pricing enquiries for suppliers, subcontractors and plant providers.
  • Review quotations and compare scope, exclusions and commercial alignment.
  • Identify scope gaps, pricing risks, opportunities and key cost drivers.
  • Attend site inspections, tender meetings and relevant workshops.
  • Work with construction teams to understand methodology and resourcing.
  • Support alignment between the estimate, programme and delivery approach.
  • Maintain accurate assumptions, calculations and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to estimate reviews and complete agreed review actions.
  • Support tender submissions, clarifications and post-tender activities.
  • Prepare handover information for successful tenders.
  • Build productive relationships with internal teams and supply-chain partners.

About You

You will bring:

  • Estimating experience within civil construction or infrastructure.
  • Experience preparing or contributing to first-principles estimates.
  • The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documents.
  • Experience completing quantity take-offs and pricing build-ups.
  • An understanding of direct costs, indirect costs and preliminaries.
  • The ability to assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Awareness of construction methodology, project risk and cost drivers.
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to checking work.
  • The ability to organise priorities and meet tender deadlines.
  • Clear communication and collaborative working skills.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with Expert Estimation, CATS, CostX or comparable estimating software, which will be highly regarded.
