Estimator – Manufacturing
Location: Strafford, MO
Employment Type: Full-Time
Direct Reports: None

American Products is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to support our Sales Team by preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for manufactured products. This position works cross-functionally with Inside and Outside Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Customer Service to support customer proposals and ensure timely, well-documented estimates.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with Sales to define proposal scope and prepare detailed estimates
• Review RFPs, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material for accuracy and completeness
• Obtain and verify all technical and pricing inputs required for estimates
• Interpret customer prints and technical documentation to develop precise quotes
• Communicate professionally with customers to clarify requirements as needed
• Coordinate with internal departments to gather proposal inputs
• Meet proposal deadlines and maintain organized cost documentation
• Maintain estimating files and related cost records
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
Experience & Technical Skills
• Manufacturing estimating experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications
• Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or 3D modeling preferred
• Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
Computer Skills
• Microsoft Excel: Intermediate
• Microsoft Word & Outlook: Intermediate
• Microsoft PowerPoint: Basic
Additional Skills
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with customers
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Use of hands for handling, reaching, and detailed work
• Required PPE includes safety glasses and steel-toe boots
• Visual acuity for close, distance, color, and depth perception
