About this Role – Estimator
We are looking for a talented Estimator who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for developing cost estimates and resource requirements for electrical transmission and distribution construction projects throughout the region.
What You’ll Do
-Work as part of an integrated Operations and Estimating team in acquiring projects
-Assist project team in scoping projects for engineering, construction, and contractual requirements
-Review plans, specifications, drawings to determine the cost of the project
-Perform material takeoffs and develop an estimate of cost to perform the work according to the specifications
-Prepare budgetary project estimates based on limited information and general scopes of work, often lacking specific precedence
-Develop detailed lump sum project estimates based on company standards and site-specific facility drawings
-Analyze time, equipment, tooling, material and manpower requirements for each project
-Interface with customers, vendors and subcontractors
-Select pool of potential subcontractors and material/equipment vendors to solicit their proposals
-Gather information regarding subcontractor and vendor suitability and determine the best pricing
-Exercise significant independent discretion in developing project estimates and applying “mark-up" and “labor factors"
-Occasionally visiting customer field locations as required to ascertain project conditions
-Attend pre- and post-bid meetings, virtually or in person, as required and be able to effectively present information to clients
-Properly turn over bid documents to Operations
-Assist with the development of standardized historical cost databases and application tools to aid future estimates

-Knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency in the use of Excel
-Knowledge of estimating software programs
-BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Mgt/Admin, Accounting/Finance, or equivalent experience (Preferred).
-3-5 years of experience in the utility construction industry (Preferred).
