Central Environmental, Inc. (CEI) is an SBA-certified Small Disadvantaged Business. Since its founding in 1984, CEI has expanded into a full-service construction and environmental remediation provider with operations in Anchorage (AK), Colorado Springs (CO), Fairbanks (AK), and Las Vegas (NV), and projects spanning the U.S. and globally. We specialize in general contracting, civil site work, underground utilities installation, environmental and demolition services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Attend pre-bid job walks

· Reviewing project documents, specifications, and plans to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements.

· Will be responsible for preparing project estimates, issuing RFI’s throughout the bid process and submitting bids.

· Will be assisting with project management, preparing construction schedules and generating work plans.

· Must provide their own transportation.

· Must be willing to travel for site visits.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

· Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED

· Level of Experience Requirements: Construction Estimating: 5 years

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

· Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows – understanding how work moves through a company.

· Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry‑standard software.

· Knowledge of customer service practices – principles of providing quality service and managing inquiries professionally.

· Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles – awareness of proper handling of sensitive information.

· Communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to convey information clearly and professionally.

· Time management and prioritization – balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

· Problem‑solving and critical thinking – analyzing issues and selecting appropriate solutions.

· Interpersonal and teamwork skills – building rapport and collaborating effectively with others.

· Attention to detail – producing accurate, error‑free work.

  • Primavera P6 Software: 1 year
  • Microsoft Excel: 5 years
  • Microsoft Project: 5 years
  • HeavyBid Software: 1 year
  • Driver's License (Preferred)

Supervisory Responsibilities

· This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.

DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements

· This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

Necessary Physical Requirements

· Ability to walk and navigate construction sites, including uneven surfaces.

· Capable of standing, sitting, and moving for extended periods

· Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders for site inspections.

· Ability to lift/carry up to 20–30 lbs (plans, tools, equipment).

· Visual acuity to read blueprints, documents, and digital screens.

· Manual dexterity for computer work and basic measuring tools.

· Ability to communicate effectively, including in noisy environments.

· Capacity to work in outdoor and construction site conditions (weather, dust, noise) with PPE.

· Ability to travel to job sites and meetings as needed.

Work Environment

· Split between office settings and active construction sites

· Frequent use of computers, estimating software, and technical documents

· Regular site visits with exposure to weather, noise, dust, and hazards (with PPE).

· Interaction with project teams, clients, and contractors

· May require local travel and occasional extended work hours to meet deadlines.

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
