Estimator



Appraises vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance and retail claim settlement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Examines damaged vehicles to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical or interior damage.
  2. Estimate cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
  3. Determine feasibility of repair vs. replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders and doors.
  4. Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
  5. Estimate cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles.
  6. Review repair cost estimates with body shop manger or foreman.
  7. Schedule customer appointments.
  8. Track daily progress of jobs in process.
  9. Assist production manager in processing supplement claims.
  10. Prepare detailed supplements for additional parts and labor.
  11. Notify insurance company of any supplement needed.
  12. Prepare repair order documents for final invoicing checking parts, labor and materials charges.
  13. Calculate technician hours and flag timesheets.
  14. Complete daily cycle time work sheets.
  15. Utilize DMS system for customer updates and job tracking.
  16. Review daily progress of repairs and work with production manager and customer service representative updating customers when needed.
  17. Notify customers of any old damage found on vehicle that may not be accident related.
  18. Document repair order for mileage on vehicle in and out of shop.
  19. Maintains a professional attitude with co-workers, customers, vendors.
  20. Follows the dress code the company has put in place. Maintains a clean and neat work area. Keeps area free of debris.
  21. Follows federal, state and local law as well as company policy about safeguarding all information.
  22. Reports on time to work and follows schedule that is given. Calls supervisor if he/she cannot be at work on time.
  23. Keeps current with annual HR training along with any other training that might be required for this position.
  24. Follows all company policies and procedures. Notifies supervisor of any illegal activity.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 year(s) automotive collision experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of body repair methods
  • Possess a good understanding of computerized estimating systems.
  • Ability to deal effectively with customers, dealership personnel, and insurance adjusters.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic computer skills is a plus
  • Team oriented
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
