Estimator – Industrial / Structural Retrofit & Base Building

Location: Vaughan
Compensation: $90,000 – $120,000 base + benefits
(flexible depending on experience)

Our client is a well-established General Contractor specializing primarily in interior construction, with a growing portfolio of industrial base-building and structural retrofit projects.

These projects typically involve modifications to existing industrial facilities, including loading dock additions, structural alterations, and partial ground-up scope such as excavation, concrete, and steel work.

Due to increased demand in this area, they are looking to bring on an Estimator with experience in base building, structural, or light civil scopes within an ICI environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for industrial and commercial construction projects
• Analyze drawings and specifications related to structural modifications, including:
  • Precast wall removal
  • Shoring and underpinning
  • Excavation and footings
  • Concrete and structural steel
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis
• Participate in bid closing, scope reviews, and value engineering exercises
• Work closely with operations and project management teams to ensure smooth handover
• Assist in budgeting and pre-construction planning for upcoming projects

Qualifications

• 3–8+ years of estimating experience within ICI construction
• Experience with base building, structural, or industrial projects is strongly preferred
• Exposure to scopes such as concrete, steel, excavation, or building envelope is an asset
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong understanding of subcontractor trades and pricing structure in Ontario
• Proficiency with take-off and estimating software
• Strong communication and organizational skills
