At Etex, we seek to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our customers and our communities. Are you looking for a company where you can learn, grow & lead ? Join us as an Estimator in Skipton!

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for specifying, quantifying, and pricing light gauge steel projects, ensuring accuracy from start to finish. You will produce clear lump sum estimates, prepare professional tender documentation, and provide a clear vision of the finished product. Working closely with our sales team and clients, you will play a key role in delivering precise, competitive, and timely project estimates.

What you’ll do:

  • Accurately quantify the total cost of loadbearing steel, including both technical and site-related costs.
  • Produce precise estimations using company software, including Commercial Preliminary Take-Off Sheets.
  • Review client documentation to ensure it is comprehensive enough to generate an accurate quotation.
  • Provide clients with clear guidance on key plans and the proposed loadbearing layout.
  • Advise clients on potential cost implications or variations resulting from design changes.
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams to identify value engineering opportunities during the tender stage.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships via phone and direct communication.
  • Address commercial queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from estimating to design through a comprehensive sales handover process.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance commercial processes.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to improve the quality of information and the handover process to estimating.
  • Liaise with the purchasing team regarding current costs for materials and purchased items.

What you’ll bring:

    • Proven experience in estimating, ideally within the construction or manufacturing sector.
    • Ideally you will have knowledge of light gauge steel, offsite construction, and modern methods of construction (MMC).
    • Background in manufacturing processes and their application to construction projects.
    • Familiarity with quantity surveying principles and cost control methods
    • Proficiency in using relevant software (e.g., AutoCad, Microsoft Office).
    • Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
    • Effective communicator with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, sales teams, and internal departments.
    • Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.

Why join us?

  • We are named the world's #1 most trustworthy company in the construction sector by Newsweek and Statista in 2023!
  • Our culture – we connect & care about those around us. We nurture teamwork, communities, partnerships and new ways of working, placing the highest importance on the safety and working environment of our people.
  • Our ‘Road to Sustainability 2030’ is our plan to help build a better, sustainable future. We work towards this vision by caring about our social and environmental impacts and developing innovative solutions
  • We have a strong conviction that diversity of thinking helps us to deliver a strong and sustainable performance. It is also essential for us that everyone feels part of the team. In this spirit, we are committed to equal opportunities and zero tolerance towards discrimination
  • Flexibility: For us, hybrid and flexible working is all about trust, and we want you to be able to do your best work (depending on the role).
