UGL Industrials have an opportunity for a qualified and suitably experienced Estimator to join our busy Bennetts Green workshop in the Capital Works and Manufacturing group. This group focuses on the design, fabrication and installation of pressure retaining equipment such as HP/LP/IP Heaters, Vessels, Exchangers and high energy pipework. This position is Monday - Friday 38hours per week.

This position is a residential role with no living away from home provisions or facility for non-local employees.Local applicants from the Newcastle region are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the role

The Estimator will support the Senior Estimator on delivering EOIs, tenders and UGL Gate governance.

Responsible For:

  • Log enquiries from client, raise tender number and maintain quote register

  • Development of Project Estimating standards, procedures, templates and tools in support of all activities undertaken across a portfolio of projects

  • Review and plan the Request for Pricing (RFP) with your manager to ensure technical aspects of the tender are clear and understand contractual requirements with the client

  • Performing Quantity Take Offs

  • Application of the Contract Norms, Rates, pricing mechanisms or other reference data against the take-off quantities to generate manhour, material, plant, equipment, tooling, cashflow and subcontractor estimates

  • Development of new Norms for the project scope of work on an as required basis

  • Preparing detailed responses to client Requests for Pricing (RFP)

  • Preparing a Basis of Estimate document from all RFP responses

  • Supporting the handover of Estimates to other project controls stakeholders and the operations function

  • Periodic analysis of the Norms in use in order to assess and report accuracy or areas of improvement

  • Compliance with UGL Gate governance, prepare offer letter and submission to client after receiving all internal approval

  • Develop and update labour rates (blue & white collar) ensuring current rates are applied

  • Work with engineering team and operations to bridge communications and deliver fit for purpose designs

  • of the entire tender, maintaining an open approach to all problems

Required qualifications and education requirements

  • Trade or Engineering Qualification

  • 3 years’ experience in similar industry

  • Project Controls knowledge and delivery skills (Contract Administration, Forecasting and Schedule Development and Management)

  • AS9001 Quality Systems knowledge

  • Schedule experience (MS project or P6)

  • Driver’s License

  • AS4458 and AS3992 knowledge (not mandatory but will be highly regarded

  • Leadership ability
