The position is accountable for development and accuracy of basic estimates and quotes related to cellulosic PFP projects after training by the team
• Analyse drawings, material lists, specifications and other documentation to produce estimation reports for cellulosic projects
• Uses PlanSwift or other estimating software to produce steel schedule
• Undertakes assessments manually or by using Intercalc estimation software
• Uses mathematical equations to determine the correct and accurate estimates
• Coordinates with sales on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process.
• Understands and adheres to estimate deadlines requests and the effort necessary to meet those requirements.
• Ensures estimates are logged into appropriate system (at present CRM) for measurement, management and tracking.
• Coordinates development of the estimate with functional departments as required
• Understanding of all default notes used in relation to estimation
• Develops good overview of all Interchar fire protection products, their pros and cons
• Awareness of competitors products, positioning and behaviour
• Manages the communication of the estimate to the sales team involved
• Develops awareness of industry topics which affect our business and technical positions
• Develops awareness of industry publications and standards of relevance
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil / Mechanical)
• Basic paint technology knowledge particularly regarding Interchar products and Knowledge of basic passive fire protection principles is desirable.
• 1 to 5 years of Customer and support experience preferable in coatings industry.
• Experience in handling basic estimation process.
• Ability to read and interpret structural engineering and architectural drawings and a broad knowledge and understanding of structural steelwork and general engineering principles is mandatorily essential.
• Ability to operate CAD drafting software, particularly AutoCAD is desirable.
• Ability to quantify steelwork materials in a listed format would be a benefit.
• Ability to interact and discuss basic estimation with sales teams and clients as requested
• Excellent organizational skills and Excel manipulation skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment with all level of employees.
• Ability to learn and operate new tools and programs quickly.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills
• Should possess good communication skills and should be a good Team player with a positive “can do” attitude.
