Job Description

WHY TEAM SIMONDS?

The Simonds story all started in 1949 with a passionate family man, Gary Simonds. He envisioned a builder that Australians could rely on to guide them through the process of crafting their perfect home. This vision remains at the heart of Simonds today with our commitment to making the Great Australian Dream a reality by placing home ownership within Australia’s reach.

Becoming part of Team Simonds means becoming part of the family. Our people are the heart of what we do. Our homes are built for the community, by the community, with a local network of employees, trades and supplies all working towards this vision. It is this passion, dedication, and excellence that you will find on every Simonds job site, office, and display centre across the country. Today, we stand proudly as an ASX listed & leading national builder servicing customers across Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

Simonds has helped shape Australia. Few can say that. Whether we’re looking back at the homes of yesteryear, what we’re building now, or everything that’s still to come. We’ve not only shaped what Australia looks like, but more importantly, how Australia homes.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Join Simonds as our Estimating Team Leader – Medium Density & Projects based from our brand-new Docklands office and play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of our multi-dwelling and project housing portfolio.

Leading a team of Estimators, you’ll provide day-to-day guidance, technical support and coaching while remaining hands-on with complex estimating activities including cost planning, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), feasibility assessments and tender pricing.

Working closely with Procurement, Design, Drafting and Construction teams, you’ll help ensure estimating accuracy, protect project margins and drive consistent processes across our Medium Density & Projects channel.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Estimator who enjoys combining technical expertise with people leadership and making a positive impact through improved systems, processes and team capability.

WHO YOU ARE

You’re an experienced Estimator with a strong background in residential construction, particularly medium density, multi-dwelling or project-based developments. You enjoy supporting and developing others while delivering accurate, commercially focused estimating outcomes.

You’ll also bring:

  • Significant experience in residential estimating, with exposure to medium density, multi-dwelling or project housing.
  • Experience preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost plans, tender pricing and feasibility assessments.
  • The ability to lead, coach and support estimators to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methodologies, site constraints and project requirements.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify risks, opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Confidence interpreting architectural drawings, engineering documentation, specifications and planning requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across Procurement, Design, Drafting and Construction teams.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and efficiencies.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to step into a leadership role while remaining connected to the technical side of estimating, we’d love to hear from you.

WHY JOIN US?

Aside from a fantastic opportunity to join one of Australia's ASX listed leading residential builders, Simonds can offer you:

  • Great benefits across a wide range of products and services including a generous discount on our award-winning homes as well as all the great things that go in them.
  • Access to our free employee well-being program, including counselling, nutritional, financial, and legal support for both you and your immediate family.
  • Access to Simonds Reward Days - receive an extra day of leave per year.
  • Opportunities for professional and personal growth through our Learning and Development programs on our inhouse Simonds Learning platform.
  • Access exclusive employee benefits including novated leasing, discounted car hire, and health, retail, and energy savings.
  • Enjoy sporting, trade, and supplier discounts, including partner offers with the Geelong Cats and Melbourne United, plus discounted access to materials and services for personal projects.
  • Generous rewards and recognition.

A commensurate remuneration package will be negotiated with the right candidate.

If this sounds like your next opportunity, we'd love to hear from you as soon as possible!
