Job Description

Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking a Safety and Health (S&H) Professional. This job function is responsible for oversight of Safety related programs and field support for both the R&D as well as Operations and Facility/Construction work performed at SRNL. This position requires expertise and knowledge in Safety and Health regulations, site policies and procedures, and consensus standards to maintain compliant S&H programs at SRNL. This position provides leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in the functional area of S&H.

  • Advanced communication skills used to implement programs and work effectively with customers.
  • Understands the role of the function and how it fits into meeting the goals of the laboratory.
  • Expertise in S&H programs, regulatory drivers, and DOE orders.
  • Does not manage employees, but may mentor and/or train subordinates.
  • Initiates improvements in S&H programs by understanding the needs of the customers and implementation of efficient and effective programs and field support.
  • Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards. Maintain appropriate level government security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA + 4-6 yrs of field experience in S&H.
  • For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree and 2-4 years pertinent field experience
  • Experience working with DOE preferred
  • Certification such as Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred
