ERP Master Data Specialist

1-year temporary position

Location: San Jose, Costa Rica

The ERP Master Data Specialist is responsible for managing and deploying ERP (SAP) master data lifecycle requests for the Vacaville facility. Including SAP Material Master, Product, and Quality Master Data Management attributes. At Lonza, we are driven by our continuous growth mindset and dedication to flawless data management.

What you will do:

• Partner with internal and external stakeholders in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Technology, Quality, and Finance to deploy and manage the full SAP master data lifecycle (design, develop, maintain, optimize, audit, and retire).
• Maintain an advanced understanding of business processes and data touchpoints across and beyond the ERP landscape to ensure compliance and alignment with SAP data standards.
• Create, mature, maintain, and retire SAP Master Data Objects related to Material Master and Quality domains, including Recipes, Bills of Materials, Resources, COA Profiles, Inspection Plans/Characteristics, Quality Info Records, Specifications, and related table data.
• Support data queries, reporting activities, and the extraction of critical data using Business Intelligence tools.
• Maintain master data procedures, process instructions, and workflows that drive operational excellence within the team.
• Work independently on routine and non‑routine production campaign activities while supporting cross‑functional initiatives impacting the Vacaville SAP Master Data structure.
• Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, trends, and insights for production and supply chain stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

•Proficient years of direct experience in Master Data Management or related roles (procurement, accounting, production) within pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing using SAP ECC.
• Experience working within validated, computer‑based systems.
• Ability to organize, manage, and analyze large datasets using spreadsheets or databases.
• Strong analytical abilities with experience supporting KPIs and performing root cause analysis (Power BI or Fabriq experience is a plus).
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to extract data and generate reports using Business Intelligence platforms.
