Licensed School Social Worker

Are you a dedicated mental health professional committed to removing social, emotional, and behavioral barriers to learning? We are seeking a compassionate Licensed School Social Worker to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Special Education and the Building Principal, you will deliver direct and indirect social work services, design evidence-based interventions, and serve as a vital link connecting school, home, and community resources to help every student succeed.

What You'll Do

  1. Direct Student Support & IEP Services
  • Provide direct and indirect school social work as a related service for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) requiring social, emotional, or behavioral support.
  • Conduct individual and small-group skill-building sessions focused on emotional regulation, social skills, problem-solving, and resilience.
  • Serve as an accessible, positive, and caring adult role model for the entire student body.
  1. Tiered Interventions & Data Analysis
  • Design, implement, and monitor evidence-based Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and behavioral interventions tailored to at-risk students.
  • Collect, analyze, and report student progress data to evaluate intervention efficacy and maintain compliance with district and state policies.
  1. Home, School & Community Liaison
  • Act as a central liaison between the home, school, and community service providers to mobilize and coordinate vital resources for families.
  • Assist parents and guardians in navigating external healthcare, mental health, and social service systems when additional support is needed outside the school setting.
  1. Crisis Intervention & School Safety
  • Provide responsive crisis intervention, de-escalation, and risk/threat support during critical incidents.
  • Partner with building administration and educational teams to foster a safe, welcoming, and emotionally supportive learning environment.
  • Perform other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned by school leadership.

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure: Active License as a School Social Worker from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE).
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and human relations skills with a proven track record of building positive, productive relationships with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities for consultation, documentation, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage caseloads, intervention plans, and agency contacts effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree: Master's degree in Social Work (MSW).
  • Experience: Three (3) or more years of successful experience serving as a School Social Worker in a K�12 environment.
