West Coast Animal Veterinary Emergency Specialty Hospital (WAVES) is an emergency and multi-specialty hospital in Victoria BC and has been open since April 2019. We are located in the heart of the West Shore, approximately 20 minutes from downtown Victoria. WAVES offers 24/7 care alongside boarded specialists in critical care, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, and interventional radiology/endoscopy. The beautiful 9,700 sq foot hospital features an in-house lab, dedicated ICU, digital radiology, ultrasound, MRI, in-house CT, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, underwater treadmill, and 3 fully equipped surgical suites. We are equipped to handle high acuity cases from all over Vancouver Island.

We are currently recruiting for a veterinarian in the ER department. Skilled ER doctors are crucial to the success of the hospital. This role will include consultation with animal owners and subsequent diagnosis and implementation of a treatment or surgical protocol, as well as the adequate supervision of lay staff in order to fulfil 24 hour patient care. Previous ER experience is an asset as well as internship or fellowship training but are not necessary. Shift work including overnights, weekends, and holidays will be required in order to offer 24/7 emergency coverage.

• Excellent clinical ER skills
• Passion for what you do every day
• A leadership mindset
• Enthusiasm, energy and a positive attitude are a must
• A strong desire to educate and build solid relationships with clients and your team
• Exemplary communication skills, both when dealing with clients and team member
• Provincial DVM licensing, or eligibility to be licensed
