ER Tech - Emergency Department
Part-Time 7p - 7a
The ER Tech performs designated/delegated tasks in the provision of care for patients under the direction and supervision of a nurse.
Must perform time sensitive EKG testing on patients that have an order for this test and must inform primary care giver in a time sensitive manner of results. Training will include knowledge of proper lead placement as well as alternate studies such as reverse and right sided EKGs.
Collects specimens according to policy. Will complete training to include collection of blood specimens, throat swabs, nasal swabs, stool specimens, and obtaining clean catch urine specimens.
Performs routine vital signs and documents appropriately in the patient medical record.
Responsible for performing blood glucose testing as ordered.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
Mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training to be completed prior to end of orientation period and maintained annually.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent nursing assistant training with six months or more experience.
Prior Phlebotomy training or experience preferred.
