The Expeditionary Systems Engineering Division (ESED) is a component of Corona Division, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). ESED performs full spectrum life cycle engineering and test support to verify the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of Expeditionary Warfare systems. The primary function of ESED is to provide In-Service Engineering and Test and Evaluation for the Department of Defense (DoD). As part of this function, ESED conducts test operations at regional Southern California ranges such as Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake and at multiple DoD ranges across the United States. This task sets forth the requirements for technical services related to testing to include test planning, test execution, test support, test operations and associated logistics. These services are in support of a wide variety of systems across their life cycle, which include ESED's main focus areas such as Arms, Ammunition, Explosives, Weapons Systems, and associated platforms utilized by the Expeditionary Warfare community. ESED’s secondary focus areas such as Sensors and Communications, Mobility Platforms, Systems Integration, and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment with unique military applications; and other new or existing systems that require independent testing for Expeditionary Warfare.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Equipment Technician provides provides hands-on technical support for 3D printer systems, electronics, and related equipment, including setup, calibration, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting to ensure operational readiness and compliance with technical standards on the Test Operations Support Services (TOSS) contract The role also manages consumables, logistics, hazardous materials handling, and inspections while supporting vehicle loading, storeroom operations, and adherence to Navy and federal regulations This position is located in Fallbrook, CA.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical expertise in the testing, operation, repair, and maintenance of 3D Printer Systems, electronics systems, and additional equipment to ensure operational readiness and compliance with technical standards.
  • Maintain and support re-stock for consumables used on 3D Printers.
  • Repair and/or replace failed items and coordinate logistics support as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair cascading refrigeration components, including logistics support for off-site vendor repairs.
  • Re-charge refrigeration systems as needed to maintain environmental conditioning units.
  • Support vehicle loading and unloading from trucks and provide operational equipment and material storeroom support.
  • Set up and calibrate 3D Printer systems and electronics systems by following schematics and diagrams.
  • Identify parts needed to order for repairs and maintenance.
  • Conduct identification, handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials used.
  • Ensure compliance with Navy-specific regulations and federal guidelines.
  • Assist with maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS) libraries.
  • Conduct routine inspections of HAZMAT storage lockers, supply rooms, waste accumulation points, and spill-response kits.
  • Coordinate transportation of hazardous waste with approved disposal vendors or Navy Environmental Units.
  • Manage labeling, segregation, and proper packaging in accordance with Navy and federal standards.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience providing hands-on support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for 3D printers or similar technical equipment, including working with related materials and following technical documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printers, including setup, calibration, maintenance, and repair.
  • Understanding of 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or CAD equivalents.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and firmware issues.
  • Familiarity with materials used in additive manufacturing, including PLA, ABS, Nylon, composites, resins, and metal powders where applicable.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong time management, documentation, and quality-control skills.
  • Ability to be trained and certified in forklift and other weight-handling equipment.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Travel Required ~10% travel required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities.
  • The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Diesel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, "Big Joe" stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more.

INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $35.86 – $37.00 per hour. The pay range for this role considers job-related knowledge, skills, work location, education and training, and certifications.
