Responsible for moving freight, stock, or other materials over short distances from railcars to trucks. Equipment includes telehandler, skid steer, pay loader, and trackmobile.

Typical hours during Production are M-F 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Saturday as needed. Typical hours during Maintenance are M-F 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM. No Saturdays.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

  1. Use experience with various machines to operate them in a safe and controlled manor.
  2. Assist workers in tasks such as loading and unloading vehicles by hand or by operating heavy equipment and/or hand tools.
  3. Assist in performing or scheduling repairs or preventive maintenance of vehicles or other equipment. Sometimes performing these at elevated platforms with heavy tools.
  4. Follow and enforce safety rules and regulations (Federal, state, local and company policies.)
  5. Responsible to maintain equipment and yard inventories.
  6. Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning. Sometimes performing these at elevated platforms with heavy tools.
  7. Learn the various products by styles, colors and sizes to be able to load the correct product for our customers.
  8. Work directly with customers to load material to their vehicles.
  9. Accurately and safely loads and handles rebar for customers.
  10. Assists with plant maintenance while following all federal, state, local and company policies.
  11. Ensure DOT, MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  12. Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)

  1. Understanding safe handling of bulk materials, palletized goods, and freight commonly moved in transload operations.
  2. Knowledge of workplace safety practices, PPE requirements, hazard communication (HazCom), and safe lifting techniques.
  3. Basic knowledge of loading/unloading procedures for trucks, railcars, and containers, including weight distribution and securement practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

  1. High School diploma or General Education Degree, or equivalent experience.
  2. Driver’s License required.
