Position Summary:
Successful candidate will operate and/or train to operate (as training is available) machinery classified as heavy and/or light equipment, such as rollers, track-hoes, and bulldozers to move or place equipment or materials in an appropriate and safe manner. This position will be responsible to perform inspections and routine maintenance on various equipment including forklifts, bobcats, delivery trucks, small tractors, and sweepers in the performance of moving materials and other similar activities.
Operates a variety of construction class vehicles:
- Heavy Equipment Operator operates equipment such as back-hoes, track-hoes, bulldozers, mini excavators, skid steers, or track loaders to life, move, or place equipment and materials. They also inspect, clean, and fuel equipment prior to beginning their shift or as additionally required. Heavy equipment operators work closely with other equipment operators and ground crew. Operators use sound judgement to safeguard life and property while in control of their equipment.
- Back-Hoe Operator uses various attachments to scoop and dump materials, dig trenches, load heavy materials, and break rock or concrete.
- Bulldozer Operator clears and level land.
- Front End Loader Operator picks up loads of earth, rock, sand, or gravel to move and/or transport.
- Grader Operator controls the height and angle of grader blades to spread and level ground.
Essential job functions:
- Inspect, set up, and operate equipment to grade or excavate the earth and transfer heavy materials under Foreman supervision.
- Practice exceptional safety procedures and adhere to all applicable standards and guidelines.
- Follow verbal and hand signals of fellow crew members in positioning loads and coordinating movement with onsite activity.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Write work orders on equipment when necessary
- Attend all safety trainings and/or meetings.
- Track machine and material usage with proper records and documentation.
- All other duties as assigned by site supervisor.
Non-essential Job Functions: May attend professional meetings or pertinent workshops.
QualificationsJob Specifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to meet the minimum insurance requirements of the Quapaw Nation’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
- Understanding of job site safety procedures.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance on a variety of construction class vehicles.
Education &
Experience:
- High-school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 0-2 years of experience handling heavy equipment
Working Conditions:
Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions in a fast-paced environment. Long hours and some heavy liftings are required.
