Road & Rail Services is looking for a skilled and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to support our railroad mechanical facility in Butler, Pennsylvania.
This position offers the opportunity to operate industrial equipment, assist with daily railroad operations, and develop valuable experience in the transportation industry.

This is an active, physically demanding position that involves working around railroad equipment and machinery in an outdoor industrial setting.
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you'll play an important role in keeping our mechanical facility running safely and efficiently.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
Operate heavy machinery and industrial equipment to support railroad mechanical activities.
Transport and position materials, tools, supplies, and equipment throughout the worksite.
Load and unload materials while following established safety procedures.
Conduct routine equipment inspections before beginning daily operations.
Recognize and communicate mechanical issues or equipment malfunctions.
Assist railroad mechanical crews with material movement and operational support.
Work safely around railroad tracks, railcars, and other moving machinery.
Keep equipment, work areas, and surrounding facilities clean and organized.
Follow all applicable company, customer, and railroad safety regulations.
Perform additional general labor and operational assignments as needed.
We're looking for reliable individuals who enjoy hands-on work and take pride in operating equipment safely.
Previous experience operating heavy equipment, forklifts, loaders, construction machinery, or similar industrial equipment.
Experience in construction, railroad operations, manufacturing, or mechanical facilities is beneficial.
Ability to understand and follow equipment operating instructions and safety guidelines.
Strong awareness of surroundings when working near moving equipment and machinery.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
Willingness to perform physical labor when equipment operation is not needed.
Dependable attendance and the flexibility to support changing operational priorities.
Ability to learn new equipment and railroad-specific operating procedures.
Previous railroad experience is preferred but not required.
This position is based at an active railroad mechanical facility, not a traditional warehouse.
Applicants must be comfortable with:
Working outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
Standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting throughout the workday.
Working around heavy equipment, railroad tracks, and industrial machinery.
Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Following strict safety standards in a fast-paced industrial environment.
