Key responsibilities:

  • Own equipment performance and reliability to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), yield, cycle time and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause investigations and failure analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions based on performance trends to minimise downtime.
  • Support equipment installation, qualification, commissioning and production ramp-up, as well as process validation and engineering changes where required.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to resolve technical issues, improve equipment capability and manage spare parts requirements.
  • Coach technicians on equipment operation, maintenance and troubleshooting, and ensure compliance with safety, quality and operational requirements.

About you:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in automation with PLC programming, equipment engineering or manufacturing equipment support.
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, servo, robotic and automated systems; experience with automated, servo-controlled, pneumatic or robotic equipment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of PLC and vision systems, including Omron, Siemens, Keyence or equivalent platforms, and a good understanding of Cpk, statistics, FMEA, TPM, Lean or Six Sigma methodology.
  • Able to produce clear technical reports, 5-Why analysis and downtime summaries.
  • Hands-on, self-motivated and comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills across engineering, maintenance and production teams. Proactive in identifying risks, solving problems and implementing practical, sustainable improvements.

Working at Dyson:

You will be part of a highly collaborative engineering and advanced manufacturing environment where ownership, technical rigour and continuous improvement matter. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on equipment reliability, production performance and operational efficiency, while helping deliver Dyson’s advanced manufacturing ambitions.

Dyson offers products across a growing range of areas: floorcare, air purification, robotics, haircare including formulations, lighting, hand drying, and most recently audio. Dyson continues to expand into new areas.

Today, Dyson sells products in more than 80 markets, has 450 Dyson stores worldwide and is available in all major technology and beauty retailers. Its global team of engineers, scientists and software developers are focused on developing technology-enabled products which work better and which people love to use. Key areas of focus have included high-speed electric digital motors, sensing and vision systems, robotics, machine learning and aerodynamics.

Beyond products, to encourage an inventive future, Dyson is also inspiring the next generation of engineers and inventors through the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, the James Dyson Foundation and the James Dyson Award.

The Dyson family applies its problem-solving approach in other fields, and established Dyson Farming in 2012. It is one of the largest farming businesses in the UK, extending to 36,000 acres across Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. It is a family-owned enterprise unlike any other, focussed on long-term investment in British farming and the countryside to grow tasty and nutritious food.
