Job Purpose

The Electrical Design Robotics role provides high quality, on-time robotic hardware, software, and safety designs equipment to ensure stable new model and new technology introduction in all HDMA North American manufacturing facilities.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the creation of a critical path schedule, determine, and manage resources to produce the robotics system design deliverables to achieve the overall project milestones for medium to large projects/ medium to high complexity.
• Provide direct mentorship to NE, EX1 and EX2 associates at a 1:4 or 1:5 ratio where technical knowledge transfer occurs to foster growth in other individual contributors.
• Lead peer and mentee reviews.
• Lead the implementation of robotics design for a new model across multiple lines, including any new machines or processes.
• Provide Plan versus actual reporting on QCDMS requirements and propose countermeasures to gaps encountered.
• Lead and or attend design reviews to ensure design standards and specification requirements are met. Influence the development of group methods and processes.
• Lead the application of new robotic processes.
• Lead robot system evaluation checks and buyoffs at Honda and Robot vendors.
• Lead and/or perform simulation studies, robot configuration and programming in both online and offline scenarios.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Other Job-Specific Skills

• Microsoft Office Product proficiency, Robot CAD, Simulation Proficiency

Working Conditions

• Based on project needs, work in the engineering office at a desk station or the plant floor.75% Office Environment, 25% Manufacturing Floor
• Ability to support robot installations all over North America, including weekends and shutdown work in the plant. 40-50 hrs per week, up to 20-40% weekends per year.
• Work in all FRAME departments, WE(Weld), AF(Assembly), PA(Paint), ST(Stamping), POPA(Plastics).
• Some troubleshooting or hands on work with the robot systems and automation can be strenuous, with long hours standing or moving around the equipment.
• Willing to conduct physical confirmations in the manufacturing environment and conduct/debug on the manufacturing floor and / or at vendor sites.
